Stencilist C215’s Junk Store at Ad Hoc Art in Brooklyn, NY is definitely in our ‘top 3 NY shows’ of 2008. Featuring subjects from his recent trips to India, Brazil and Israel and cleverly tied together with stencils of his passport stamps in the pieces and on the walls. Its a lot to take in, but here’s a sampling:



He made excellent use of suitcases, metal and found papers/objects as surfaces. As usual his placement is spot-on - such as a wrecked car stenciled on bent metal, cigarette butts on the ground around the smoker and his subjects depicted on objects from their home country.

Opening this Friday, December 12, and running through January 4 at Ad Hoc Art. Linocutters features Richard Mock, Swoon, David Ellis, Mike Houston, Martin Mazorra, Dennis McNett, Judith Supine, Elbowtoe, Gaia, c.damage and Imminent Disaster and will show the original wood/linos as well as the prints pulled from them. Stencilist C215 will be in the project room.
