Conor Harrington is a favorite around here, and Babelgum did an interview with him as he painted for The Grifters Lazarides show. You can see the Outsiders Conor Harrington video here.
Go Get Your Shinebox opens tomorrow (Saturday, November 21, 2009) night at the Brooklynite Gallery and we couldn’t be more excited about it! We highly recommend that you come down to the opening if you are in NYC - 7-10pm, 334 Malcolm X Blvd, Brooklyn. Take the A/C to Utica Ave. In the meantime, you can see all the boxes in the video or on the Brooklynite flickr page, or, just to whet your appetite, have a look at the Kuuk, Various and Gould box can do…
Momo shows how much you can get from a few shapes - from the video caption:
Five shapes, with two sides, on a nail, create 3520 artworks. There were actually 3840 possible combinations, but 320 were redundant. These 320 occurred whenever the smallest shape (the ring) was obscured by the two largest (the triangle & swipe). So whether the ring was color or white side up, made no difference.
Now see how that works out:
I don’t think I can pick a favorite! Opens next Saturday, November 21st at 7pm and runs through December 19 at Brooklynite Gallery. I have a feeling I’ll be making several visits — needless to say we’re excited!
Absolutely killer pair of videos done by Joaquín Cociña, Cristóbal León and Niles Atallah from Chile. Lots of great and inventive moves and touches, from the girl passing the door to the breathing effect. They are a must see:
If you enjoyed these, there is a feature film in the works from Niles Atallah which is now in postproduction.

Nice video of L’Atlas doing a huge chalk piece in Washington Square Park while in town for his show at gallery nine 5 (closing November 6th, so get on over there quick). Check out photos of the exhibition over on ekosystem.org!
